Ringway, Ringway Jacobs and Elgin are shortlisted for ADEPT Presidents Award
Elgin with Ringway and Ringway Jacobs, working with Hertfordshire and Essex County Councils respectively, have been shortlisted for an ADEPT Presidents Award in the 'Deploying Digital Innovation and Technology' category.
ADEPT, its partners, and central government have a shared ambition to create SMART Places, where digital innovation and innovative approaches are adopted to shape places that are sustainable, resilient, accessible, and promote well-being. Adopting SMART approaches has the potential to be a game-changer for the delivery of strategic outcomes and, at the same time, improve efficiency and effectiveness whilst reducing costs across the public sector.
Addressing this challenge, with Ringway, Ringway Jacobs and Elgin working collaboratively, the Real-Time software application has been developed and implemented. It is designed to assist with the planning, monitoring and communication of the disruption caused by roadworks and incidents. It provides real-time congestion monitoring across Hertfordshire and Essex and also offers the unique capability to influence journeys by delivering live road closure information to sat-nav devices, either direct from the roadside or from the Traffic Control Centre.
The Real-Time solution offers:
- the ability to influence vehicle routing by avoiding current roadworks and unnecessary diversions through live communication of what is happening from resources on the ground.
- visualisation and interrogation of live congestion data, mapped against roadworks, enabling the most disruptive works to be easily identified and managed.
- a proven approach that can drive a step change in how live roadworks information can be exchanged and monitored across the industry.
Winners will be announced on 27 June 2019
