Northern Powergrid joins roadworks communications revolution
Northern Powergrid is now live on the roadworks.org Communications App from Elgin. It becomes the third new Utility to subscribe to the service this summer, in addition to Wales & West Utilities and National Grid Gas who have been driving stakeholder and customer benefits through the App for the past two years.
Enabling the public to self-serve their own enquiries 24/7 on roadworks and access information leaflets, videos and emergency update information online, the App is designed to enhance customer and stakeholder experience and reduce call centre pressure and costs.
Ian Darbyshire, StreetWorks Manager for Northern Powergrid commented,
"roadworks.org is the number 1 channel for Streetworks information for the public - 15 million enquiries in the last 12 months alone and growing at 20% per year. Our enquiries have significantly increased over the past three years. Being able to enhance the information beyond the limitations of the formal statutory notice and syndicate it so widely is a huge leap forward in achieving our goals of better customer service and stakeholder communication."
During trials which preceded the adoption of the Communications App, Northern Powergrid was impressed by the warm reception the initiative was given by the Local Highway Authorities. The Comms App will enable them to reach many more customers, especially out of hours and provide latest information on emergency works and changes to their roadworks.
roadworks.org is the number 1 channel for roadworks information in the UK. It is embedded in over 60 Local Authority websites, as well as parish, local newspaper and community information sites.
roadworks.org is the national roadworks database for England & Wales. It is the largest syndicated network of roadworks and traffic management information in the UK and has enabled the public to self-serve nearly 15 million enquiries on roadworks and traffic incidents in the past 12 months.
Communications App is the added-value communications service which sits on the roadworks.org platform. It enables real-time updates, downloadable information leaflets, videos and social media sharing - all controlled from a simple web dashboard in the Streetworks and communications departments.
